Mumbai Agricultural Produce Market Committee

Mumbai Agricultural Produce Market Committee (APMC) is a statutory market committee constituted by the State Government for the trade of certain notified agricultural/horticultural/livestock produce. Mumbai Agricultural Produce Market Committee was established on 15th January, 1977 under the provisions of Maharashtra Agricultural Produce (Marketing, Regulation and Development) Act, 1963. It is a body corporate under Section 12 of the said Act. Among others, the main objectives of the establishment of Mumbai APMC are as follows - to develop modern market premises for agricultural produce, to regulate the marketing of agricultural produce, to help farmers get better prices for their produce, to create infrastructure for the orderly development of trade, to manage and maintain markets and to fix terms and conditions for the use of markets in the market area. The committee has been established with the objective of regulating the marketing of agricultural and certain other produce, establishing markets for the same and for purposes incidental thereto.
